The Vermicompost Unit at MCT’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Latur has been established to promote sustainable agriculture by demonstrating the scientific production of high-quality organic manure using earthworms. The unit serves as a live demonstration and training centre for farmers, farm women, rural youth, Self Help Groups (SHGs), Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and agri-entrepreneurs interested in organic farming and on-farm waste management.

The unit utilizes biodegradable farm residues, crop waste, cattle dung, and other organic materials to produce nutrient-rich vermicompost through the activity of suitable earthworm species such as Eisenia fetida. The produced vermicompost improves soil fertility, enhances microbial activity, and supports environmentally friendly crop production
