The Seed Testing Laboratory at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Latur, was established in April 2024 under the District Planning and Development Council (DPDC) and the Department of Agriculture, Government of Maharashtra. The laboratory provides scientific seed quality testing services to farmers, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), seed producers and agri-entrepreneurs. It conducts tests for germination, moisture content, physical purity and seed health to ensure the availability of quality seeds for cultivation. The laboratory plays a crucial role in promoting the use of certified and quality seeds, improving crop productivity, reducing crop failures and supporting sustainable agricultural development in the region through timely testing and technical guidance.
