The Mini Dal Mill Unit at MCT’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Latur, established under Manjara Charitable Trust, serves as a demonstration, training, and value-addition facility for pulse processing. The unit promotes scientific post-harvest management of pulses and encourages farmers, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Self Help Groups (SHGs), rural entrepreneurs, and agri-startups to adopt value addition for higher income.

Latur district is one of the major pulse-growing regions of Maharashtra, producing crops such as Pigeon Pea (Tur), Green Gram (Moong), Black Gram (Urad), Chickpea (Gram).The Dal Mill Unit enables efficient processing of these pulses into clean, high-quality edible dal with minimum losses. Pulse milling generally involves cleaning, grading, dehusking, splitting, polishing (if desired), and packaging.
