The Custom Hiring Centre (CHC) at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Latur, has been established to promote farm mechanization and provide easy access to advanced agricultural machinery and equipment to farmers on a hire basis at affordable rates. The centre caters particularly to small and marginal farmers who cannot afford to purchase costly farm machinery individually.

The CHC provides a wide range of modern farm implements and machinery covering all agricultural operations from land preparation to harvesting and post-harvest management. The available equipment includes tractors, ploughs, cultivators, rotavators, seed-cum-fertilizer drills, Broad Bed Furrow (BBF) planters, precision rotary dibblers, boom sprayers, drone, power weeders, reapers, threshers, post-harvest processing equipment, drone and other advanced farm machinery.

The centre aims to reduce the cost of cultivation, address labour shortages, ensure timely farm operations and improve farm productivity and profitability. In addition to providing machinery on a rental basis, the Custom Hiring Centre also serves as a demonstration and training hub where farmers, rural youth and entrepreneurs can learn about the operation, maintenance and efficient use of modern agricultural equipment.

Through the Custom Hiring Centre, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Latur, is promoting sustainable agricultural mechanization and enhancing the adoption of advanced farm technologies among farmers of the region.
